Memberships

The Foundation has been represented by Susan at numerous key research bodies and medical research institutions.

These include:

• The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International based in New York where Susan became the first Australian to be elected as a Member of the International Board of Directors, also holding the accolade as a Life Governor of the International Diabetes Institute.
• As a Life Governor of the Walter & Eliza Hall Research Institute in Melbourne
• As a Life Governor of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Australia
• As Foundation Chairman St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research
• As a Board Member of the Australian Centre for Health Research

Together with numerous recognitions from Rotary, Research Australia and other bodies, Susan was also awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in 1997 (AM) for services to the community and diabetes generally.

In 2007 Susan was conferred as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO)
